Dante Alighieri – The Divine Comedy

Three-Volume Edition
The poet reaches the vision of Trinity through an imaginary trip in otherworldly kingdoms, the Itinerarium Mentis in Deum.

The three canticas Hell, Purgatory and Paradise, are composed by 33 cantos (Hell includes another preface).

Literary critics said the book was composed during the exile of Dante in Lunigiana and Romagna, between 1304 and 1321. The Divine Comedy is written in vernacular Italian in terza rima (rhyme scheme aba, bcb, cdc) with tercets and 14.233 hendecasyllable.
